AC/DC is a legendary rock band from Australia, formed in Sydney in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. AC/DC have sold more than 200 million records worldwide, including 71.5 million albums in the United States, adding them to the list of highest-certified music artists in the United States and the list of best-selling music artists. “Back in Black” has sold an estimated 50 million units worldwide, making it the second-highest-selling album by any artist – and the highest-selling album by any band. AC/DC were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on 10 March 2003.

The band got its name when a member saw “AC/DC” on a sewing machine and thought it looked cool. They didn’t know it stood for “Alternating Current/Direct Current”. They also didn’t know it was slang for bisexual, which caused some misunderstandings early in their career.
Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose fronted the band during AC/DC’s separation from Brian Johnson.
The band has an alley in Melbourne, Australia named after them.
According to Metallian the band often records in Vancouver, Canada.
The motel pictured on the cover of their “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” album is (now) a Rodeway Inn at 6826 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California.
